Job Title: Donor Relations Officer

Join STARS, a leading emergency medical response organization, as a Donor Relations Officer. In this role, you will play a critical part in securing critical funds for mission operations, identifying, cultivating, and stewarding major gifts and sponsorships.

About the Role

The Donor Relations and Development Officer will support the Foundation's efforts to raise critical funds for mission operations. This individual will take the lead on some new initiatives around strategic growth and donor relations expansion. This individual is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts and sponsorships to the foundation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet or exceed activity targets (discovery calls, face-to-face meetings, submitted proposals, successful solicitations) as mutually agreed upon with the Director;
  • Meet or exceed financial objectives and achieve long-term fund-raising goals of the major gift portfolio, which includes a mix of individual and corporate donors;
  • Identify the highest-potential prospects and develop and implement cultivation strategies to turn prospects into STARS supporters;
  • Deliver a new strategic plan for donor growth and prospect expansion in Manitoba;
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality proposals, presentations, and other communication materials to prospective donors and sponsors;
  • Use relationship fundraising strategies to develop and implement comprehensive plans for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts for the assigned donor portfolio, including upgrading existing donors;
  • Support other fundraising activities, such as municipal giving and internal and external events, as agreed upon with the Director;
  • Maintain accurate, professional, and current Raiser's Edge records, actions, and reports;
  • Maintain a high degree of motivation and superior work ethic consistent with the employment philosophy of the Foundation;
  • Participate actively as a member of an integrated development team, remaining informed of donor relations and development best practices.
Requirements
  • 5-7 years in a sales or fundraising and development role;
  • Post-secondary degree an asset in a related field, a combination of education and experience will be acceptable;
  • Demonstrated track record in soliciting major gifts from corporations, foundations, and individuals;
  • Exceeded annual revenue targets YOY;
  • Drive, enthusiasm, and energy;
  • Adherence to a high ethical standard;
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and research skills;
  • An aptitude for building strong, long-lasting relationships;
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy;
  • Intimate knowledge of the Manitoba region;
  • Experience with prospect management database software, particularly Raiser's Edge, is considered an asset.
