Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Regional Finance Manager for our First Student division. The position is responsible for assisting the Senior Finance Director by providing financial support to operations for assigned geographic area.
This role will assist with interpreting and implementing the Company's policies and procedures, protecting and monitoring company assets, analyzing operating results, and supporting the Senior Finance Director and regional management in contract analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct location-level audits of accounting transactions and procedures to ensure compliance with IFRS and company policies, making recommendations and ensuring corrective actions are taken;
- Train and assist location personnel in the region's accounting systems and procedures, conducting training sessions to raise financial competency of locations and other management as needed;
- Review and monitor fleet performance, including cascading, right sizing, and lost business transitions for the Region, reviewing the capital request process;
- Fleet systems review and analysis, auditing accounting and vehicle maintenance systems to ensure proper fleet figures, including periodic physical audits;
- Assist with the development of contract bids and rate calculations, ensuring reasonableness of financial assumptions;
- Assist with month-end close and financial reporting statements as needed;
- Prepare yearly operating plans and monthly forecasts for the region;
- Perform special projects and analysis, preparing various reports for operations and other management as necessary.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience required;
- Five years of experience in accounting/finance;
- Bilingual French & English communication fluency;
- Experience in financial modeling and accounting theory;
- Excellent verbal communication skills with all levels of personnel;
- Personal computer/software skills.
Approximate 20% travel required.
