About the Role

Cosma International is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineering Specialist to champion the design, build, and development of assembly processes for our customers. This role involves leading the development and improvement of packaging methods, updating plant layout drawings, and tracking E-coat system capacity. The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering and a minimum of three years of work-related experience in a lean manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive assembly sector.

Your Responsibilities

  • Handle medium-sized projects from inception to completion, including timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, and final buy-off.
  • Conduct manpower efficiency studies and prepare reports, charts, and other documentation required for engineering records and projects.
  • Work with all departments and customers to design solutions that improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety, and maintenance-related issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist in developing material handling logistics.
  • Review, monitor, and coordinate tooling design, build, approval process, and capital budgets.
  • Supervise equipment relocation and installation to Modatek and assist in setting up preventative maintenance programs for new equipment.
  • Assist in resolving quality concerns and reviews, coordinates, and implements all customer-approved engineering changes.
  • Interface with production departments, customers, and vendors to design packaging solutions that improve production planning, efficiency, ergonomic design, and economic viability.
  • Review, monitor, and coordinate custom packaging design, build, approval process, and capital budgets.
  • Assist in setting up preventive maintenance programs for e-coat and shipping racks and coordinate all required actions to resolve quality and safety concerns related to packaging.
  • Review, coordinate, and implement packaging changes as a result of customer-approved engineering changes.
  • Support new business quoting processes with packaging recommendations, including pack densities and design concepts for custom racks and plant layout drawings.
  • Support activities for successful attainment of PPAP and GP-9 and know and understand process documentation and customer-specific requirements as they relate to this job function.
Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum three years of work-related experience in a lean manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive assembly sector.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Practical experience in costing and quoting.
  • Experience in Project Management.
  • Able to read and interpret CAD drawings, experience with AutoCAD.
  • Proven presentation skills for customer interface.
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs.
