Job Summary

Manufacturing Engineering champion responsible for designing, building, and developing assembly processes for full perimeter frames, front and rear cradles, and rear twist axles, as well as leading the development and improvement of packaging methods.

About the Role

As a Manufacturing Engineering champion, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing, building, and developing assembly processes for full perimeter frames, front and rear cradles, and rear twist axles
  • Leading the development and improvement of packaging methods, including bin and dunnage selection or modification
  • Updating current and preparing plant layout drawings with modifications to existing lines and installations of new lines and processes
  • Tracking E-coat system capacity and proposing changes to increase throughput
  • Handling medium-sized projects from inception to completion, including prototype programs and engineering changes
  • Conducting manpower efficiency studies and preparing reports, charts, and other documentation required for engineering records and projects
  • Working with all departments and customers to design solutions that improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety, and maintenance-related issues
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and assisting in developing material handling logistics
  • Reviewing, monitoring, and coordinating tooling design, build, approval process, and capital budgets
  • Supervising equipment relocation and installation, setting up preventative maintenance programs, and resolving quality concerns
  • Reviewing, coordinating, and implementing customer-approved engineering changes, including part-level communication updates, physical part updates, and process sheet updates
  • Interfacing with production departments, customers, and vendors to design packaging solutions that improve production planning, efficiency, ergonomic design, and economic viability
  • Reviewing, monitoring, and coordinating custom packaging design, build, approval process, and capital budgets
  • Assisting in setting up preventive maintenance programs for e-coat and shipping racks, coordinating actions to resolve quality and safety concerns related to packaging, and reviewing, coordinating, and implementing packaging changes
  • Supporting new business quoting process with packaging recommendations, including pack densities and design concepts for custom racks, and updating and documenting current plant layouts
  • Supporting activities for successful attainment of PPAP and GP-9, knowing and understanding process documentation and customer-specific requirements, and following and complying with all Operational Procedures and Policies
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum three (3) years work-related experience within a lean manufacturing environment, preferably automotive assembly
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Practical experience in costing and quoting
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Able to read and interpret CAD drawings, experience with AutoCAD
  • Proven presentation skills for customer interface
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs
