About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Cosma International. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for championing the design, build, and development of assembly processes for our customers. This includes leading the prototype process to prove out the assembly process, developing and improving packaging methods, and updating plant layout drawings. You will also be responsible for tracking E-coat system capacity and proposing changes to increase throughput.

Your Responsibilities

  • Handle medium-sized projects from inception to completion, including timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, and final buy-off.
  • Conduct manpower efficiency studies using time and motion studies or standard data.
  • Prepare reports, charts, and other documentation required for engineering records and projects.
  • Work with all departments and customers to design solutions that improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety, and maintenance-related issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in developing material handling logistics, including aisle layout, bin placement, and dunnage assists.
  • Review, monitor, and coordinate tooling design, build, approval process, and capital budgets.
  • Supervise equipment relocation and installation to Modatek.
  • Assist in setting up preventative maintenance programs for new equipment.
  • Assist in resolving quality concerns.
  • Review, coordinate, and implement all customer-approved engineering changes.
  • Interface with production departments, customers, and vendors to design packaging solutions.
  • Review, monitor, and coordinate custom packaging design, build, approval process, and capital budgets.
  • Assist in setting up preventive maintenance programs for e-coat and shipping racks.
  • Coordinate all required actions to resolve quality and safety concerns related to packaging.
  • Review, coordinate, and implement packaging changes as a result of customer-approved engineering changes.
  • Support new business quoting process with packaging recommendations.
  • Update and document current plant layouts.
  • Support activities for successful attainment of PPAP and GP-9.
Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum three (3) years work-related experience within a lean manufacturing environment, preferably automotive assembly.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Practical experience in costing and quoting.
  • Experience in Project Management.
  • Able to read and interpret CAD drawings, experience with AutoCAD.
  • Proven presentation skills for customer interface.
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs.
