Job Title: Child and Youth Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Youth Worker to join our team at Pluming Eagle Lodge Ltd. in a group home setting.

About the Role:

This is a permanent position requiring a minimum of 30 to 40 hours of work per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and guidance to children and youth in a group home setting, promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare reports and case histories to document client progress and needs
  • Assess clients' needs and eligibility for specific services, and develop individualized plans to meet their needs
  • Perform administrative tasks, including data entry and record-keeping
  • Implement life skills workshops and programs to promote client independence and self-sufficiency
  • Conduct follow-up assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment programs
  • Develop and co-ordinate the delivery of specific services within the community, including liaising with other social services agencies and healthcare providers
  • Provide suicide and crisis intervention, and resolve conflict situations in a safe and respectful manner
  • Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses, and ensure their safety and well-being
  • Implement behaviour management programs to promote positive behaviour and reduce challenging behaviour
  • Assist clients with special needs, and accompany them to appointments and social outings
  • Manage events and activities to promote client engagement and participation
Requirements:
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related field
  • Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Certificate, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), and other relevant certifications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure, and to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Physically demanding role requiring the ability to lift, bend, and move with ease
