Job Summary
This role is a key part of our operational team, requiring a skilled and versatile individual to assist in various aspects of our daily activities. The successful candidate will have knowledge of scrap grading or be able to learn quickly. Responsibilities include scrap inspection, depolluting ELV vehicles, and performing general maintenance duties, all while ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to established safety, environmental, and operational procedures in the yard.
- Perform a variety of tasks, from simple to moderately complex, requiring attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
- Operate equipment for depolluting vehicles, following quality standards and customer requirements.
- Inspect and verify scrap for grade and quality, identifying deductions and downgrades, and communicating findings to the scale team.
- Ensure outbound materials meet safety and quality standards.
- Perform and document daily equipment maintenance and care.
- Identify and report environmental hazards, safety concerns, and equipment malfunctions, referring to supervision as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service and promote Gerdau's core values.
- Participate in daily safety routines and contribute to problem-solving efforts as required.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist in scrap inspection and grading within the yard.
- Support maintenance personnel in equipment repairs as needed.
- Perform heavy lifting, removing tires, and stacking materials.
- Operate tools for cutting exhaust parts.
- Assist coworkers in daily operational duties, ensuring safety, efficiency, and profitability.
- Contribute to problem-solving efforts as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Desire to develop skills and knowledge as a Gerdau employee.
- Promote and practice Gerdau's core values.
- High school education preferred but not required.
