Job Summary
The BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS is seeking a skilled Pyschologist to join our team in Vancouver. As a Psychologist in Primary Care, you will provide high-quality psychological services to patients in a fast-paced environment. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the development of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
About the Role
The Psychologist will work under the clinical direction of the Regional Practice Leader – Psychology Professional Practice, Vancouver Coastal Health, and will provide a full range of psychological services including assessments, treatments, and education. You will work closely with medical and mental health providers to ensure wrap-around and comprehensive care for clients requiring a higher level of mental health assessment and treatment.
Responsibilities
• Conduct brief psychological assessments of clients using standardized and evidence-based interview and assessment procedures.
• Provide short-term treatment to patients identified to be at risk for developing chronic disease or in the early stages of chronic disease to make lifestyle cognitive and behavioural modifications.
• Develop and facilitate group-based treatment programs.
• Maintain electronic and paper patient records by documenting assessment findings, treatment plan, client participation in the program as well as treatment progress outcomes and discharge plans.
• Coordinate with medical and mental health providers to ensure wrap-around and comprehensive care for clients requiring a higher level of mental health assessment and treatment.
• Provide continuing education to physicians and other health care providers to increase community capacity and understanding of behavioural and cognitive contributors to health outcomes.
Requirements
• Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from a recognized and accredited learning institution.
• Current registration with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia or registration with the College within one year of employment.
• Training in team-based health psychology is required.
