Wood's Homes is a leading mental health centre in Calgary, Alberta.

We are seeking a qualified Crisis Counsellor to join our ECMHS program.

Role Summary

The Crisis Counsellor will work under the supervision of the Program Supervisor to provide assessment and treatment planning for individuals and families experiencing a crisis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt, professional, and effective crisis assistance to individuals and families.
  • Facilitate emergency face-to-face meetings in the home and/or community.
  • Support other Wood's Homes programs by offering crisis support.
  • Ensure community professionals are kept up to date about developments and included in case planning with family permission.
  • Ensure up-to-date information about community resources is available to families and young people.
  • Review difficult cases through consultation with Program Management and other designated consultants.
  • Log and tabulate information about services provided.
  • Assist with data collection to demonstrate program use and identify areas of community need.
  • Maintain the workspace and report workplace hazards or incidents to the direct supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Level I - Undergraduate degree in the Social Sciences.
  • Level II - Masters degree in the Social Sciences.
  • Two to three years of residential/community child and youth care experience and/or crisis work experience is preferable.
  • Must have own transportation.
  • Personal suitability.
