We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team at The Royal Mental Health Centre. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to adults with psychiatric/mental health illnesses.
Key Responsibilities- Provide supportive nursing care consistent with patient treatment/rehabilitation needs and goals.
- Assist in assessment of patients' needs and in the development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care plans for assigned patients.
- Administer medications and perform treatments within the RPN's full scope of practice.
- Document accurate reports of data collection, interpretation, planning, implementing and evaluating of care.
- Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to effectively manage rapidly changing situations.
- Establish and promote effective therapeutic relationships between staff members, patients and their families.
- Graduate of recognized Diploma Program in Practical Nursing;
- Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
- Minimum of two years recent experience with adults with psychiatric/mental health illness preferred;
- Knowledge of CNO Standards regarding RPN scope of practice;
- Ability to perform full Registered Practical Nursing functions on all units at BMHC;
- Certified in CPR and First Aid;
- WHMIS and Fire training update in preceding 12 months;
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Substitute Decision Act;
- Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check for vulnerable sector;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a professional multi-disciplinary treatment team;
- Commitment to ongoing professional development;
- Safety and Security in the Workplace Training;
- Possess a valid driver's license;
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual is an asset.
