Job Title: Claims Leader

Aviva Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Claims Leader to join our Auto Claims team. As a Claims Leader, you will play a key role in driving team performance and delivering business unit outcomes, strategy, and goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify, assess, and retain top talent to strengthen our business
  • Understand and support the development of our people, while managing performance and career aspirations
  • Lead honest, constructive conversations, set clear direction, and provide frequent, honest, and constructive feedback to improve performance and achieve business goals
  • Effectively lead and positively implement change
  • Understand and apply risk management controls proportionately
  • Ensure technical development of claims file handlers
  • Create an environment dedicated to outstanding customer outcomes and champion improvement to service
  • Use data to understand performance and initiate improvement activity
  • Customer demand analysis – assist in identifying root causes of waste and failure
  • Be 'in the work' to understand capability and performance
  • Make decisions using data, observe the environment, and resolve performance blockers
  • Participate in the Quality assurance programme for your team
  • Understand and mitigate internal and external claims risks, meet compliance obligations, and measure team performance
  • Take full responsibility for team results, company performance, and key decisions
  • Clearly articulate and communicate the link between purpose, strategy, commitment, and culture
  • Expert understanding of claims experience and technical strategic direction
  • Look for new ways to improve things every day for the customer
  • Clear understanding of financial elements of our claims function
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial information
  • Identify and report suspicions of fraud or financial irregularities
  • Find opportunities to improve customer journey, claims handling processes, and financial outcomes
  • Lead change initiatives for the team and business function
Requirements:
  • CIP or FCIP Industry designation or in the process of obtaining
  • Full Adjuster License for all Atlantic provinces or in the process of obtaining
  • University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent Property technical work experience
  • 2+ years previous leadership experience
  • 5+ years of working in Claims / insurance proven experience with a solid understanding of Auto
  • Leading people through change
  • Performance management and career development of others
  • Call Centre / First Notice of Loss Catastrophic Event experience
  • Technical competence in Personal and Commercial insurance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to gain insight from data to improve performance
  • Sound decision making and problem solving skills
