Job Title: Heavy Duty Trailer Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Trailer Mechanic to join our team at The RMC Group of Companies. As a Heavy Duty Trailer Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing fleet pneumatic bulk Super B trailers and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on fleet trailers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair trailers on site and in a shop environment based on the nature of the repair.
  • Operate the service truck for emergency truck repairs.
  • Complete daily work orders timely and accurately to ensure all maintenance and repair activities are documented.
  • Provide on the job training to new employees, participating in the training and on-boarding process.
  • Guide, support, train, and advise apprentice heavy duty mechanics on best practices, helping them troubleshoot maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Participate in all safety initiatives including, but not limited to wearing PPE, safety meetings, incident reporting, safe work practices/procedures, etc.
Requirements:
  • Valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract.
  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic designation preferred; Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanics may be considered at relevant apprentice rates.
  • 1-2 years of prior heavy-duty mechanical experience dealing with large fleet vehicles such as Super B trailers.
  • Previous experience working with long haul trucks and Super B trailers is an asset, including pneumatic equipment.

Typical hours of work are Monday - Friday 8am to 4:30pm. Overtimes, evenings, and weekends may be required dependant on business needs.

This is moderately strenuous work. Mechanics frequently lift material up to 30 pounds. Machinery and tools require frequent and consistent exertion on arms, hands, and fingers. Work environment is typically indoors in a shop environment; however, mechanics are frequently outdoors pulling in fleet vehicles or even driving out onto job sites, freeways, or roads with service truck for emergency truck repairs.
