About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide mental health services directly in the school community environment within designated Schools Plus schools.

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. They will have a minimum of two years' experience providing mental health services to preschoolers, children, and adolescents within a mental health setting.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the DSM-IV-5 and the ability to screen for, assess, and conceptualize common childhood mental health disorders. They will also have experience in crisis and suicide risk assessment and intervention, as well as the ability to assess family functioning and implement family-based interventions.

We are looking for a candidate who is able to work collaboratively and cooperatively with other professionals, and who has excellent leadership skills. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.

About You
  • Master's degree in Social Work
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • Minimum two years' experience providing mental health services to preschoolers, children, and adolescents within a mental health setting
  • Knowledge of the DSM-IV-5 and ability to screen for, assess, and conceptualize common childhood mental health disorders
  • Experience in crisis and suicide risk assessment and intervention
  • Ability to assess family functioning and implement family-based interventions
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with other professionals

Hours

This is a permanent part-time position, with 37.5 hours bi-weekly.
