Operations Manager II

The Senior Operations Manager II is responsible for overseeing the operations and personnel of a complex maintenance facility, ensuring the effective management of the team and the achievement of business objectives. This role requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to optimize labor, financial, quality, operating, safety, and asset processes.
Key Responsibilities- Operations Management: The Senior Operations Manager II is responsible for overseeing the execution of the Workflow Management process, ensuring the optimal mix of straight time, O/T, and Outside Repair. This includes complex strategic labor planning, productivity tracking and optimization, shift and shop meetings, and RO review and approval.
- Labor Management: The Senior Operations Manager II provides leadership, training, development, and oversight to a self-directed management team, including Operations Managers, Operations Supervisors, Technicians-In-Charge, Customer Service Coordinators, and Technicians. This includes performance management, successful development and execution of the Technical Training Plan, and recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, payroll, and succession planning.
- Customer Management: The Senior Operations Manager II is directly responsible for customer relationship management, including issue resolutions, customer satisfaction, and retention. This includes optimizing vehicle maintenance cycle time, ensuring the shop meets or exceeds Delivered in Time Promised objectives, and executing the Customer Communication Protocol.
- Financial Management: The Senior Operations Manager II develops and manages budgets, implements cost control measures, and ensures the successful execution of Maintenance Initiatives to attain or exceed specified financial targets. This includes optimizing net maintenance cost per unit, working with vendor sourcing groups, and ensuring accuracy of third-party invoices.
- Asset Management: The Senior Operations Manager II directs the management team to maintain the appearance and maintenance of assigned locations, including sustaining 6S standards throughout the shop. This includes executing Asset Management initiatives, preparing business cases for Capital Expenditures, and prioritizing and approving shop tooling and equipment requirements.
- Quality Management: The Senior Operations Manager II performs complex quality planning, develops corrective action and counter measures to operational quality issues, and oversees the execution of Quality Inspection of PM & repairs. This includes maintaining control/visibility over shop floor activities, ensuring proper root cause diagnosis by technicians, and optimizing yield on all parts/components.
- H.S. diploma/GED required.
- Associate's degree preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Four (4) years or more in an operations environment or demonstrated success in a Ryder role required.
- Three (3) years or more supervisory experience required.
