We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join our Addiction and Mental Health Police and Crisis Team (PACT) as a Mental Health Therapist. This is a front-line position working on an Outreach basis with the Medicine Hat City Police to provide service to individuals struggling with complex addiction and mental health issues.
Key Responsibilities- Provide evidence-informed and best practice in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management, and treatment.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive services to individuals experiencing addiction and mental health issues.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address the unique needs of each client.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide suicide intervention training as required.
- Maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement and external stakeholders.
- Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy.
- Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
- Minimum of three years related and relevant post-degree/diploma experience in an addiction and mental health field.
- Authorization to do mental health psycho-social intervention is required.
- Previous experience working with law enforcement and/or in the criminal justice system.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
- CPR/First Aid preferred.
- Five years related experience in an addiction and mental health field is preferred.
- Previous experience working outreach is preferred.
