Control Systems Engineer

Spark Power Corp, a prominent independent provider of comprehensive electrical services and maintenance solutions across North America, is in search of a Control Systems Engineer to enhance their team. The Control Systems Engineer will take charge of programming, troubleshooting, and implementing new or modified production and testing apparatus from a controls installation viewpoint.

Key Responsibilities of the Control Systems Engineer include:

  • Developing functional specifications for process controls and operational sequences
  • Designing and maintaining PLC and HMI programs for industrial machinery
  • Executing VFD and multi-axis servo control systems
  • Integrating specialized hardware and software into manufacturing systems to boost automation and efficiency
  • Creating panel designs utilizing AUTOCAD
  • Commissioning and diagnosing robotic systems
  • Supporting electrical and programming challenges
  • Engaging in emergency service requirements and weekend support
  • Delivering on-site and remote technical assistance
  • Traveling to client locations for field installations

Qualifications for the position:

  • 2 - 5 years of experience in controls engineering
  • Expertise in industrial machine controls, electrical systems, PLC and HMI programming
  • Capability to produce CAD drawings for control panels and instrumentation
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication abilities
  • Understanding of production machine functionalities
  • Familiarity with automation industry practices and procedures
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley, Omron, and Siemens PLCs and HMIs
  • Knowledge of robot programming and networking is advantageous
  • SQL/DBA experience is a plus
