The Toronto Star is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our Radio Room internship program. As a Radio Room Reporter Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with our experienced team of journalists in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

As a Radio Room Reporter Intern, you will be responsible for monitoring police, fire, and paramedic reports, as well as social media and other sources for breaking news. You will provide quick tips to the newsroom and may have the opportunity to do original reporting for all the Star's platforms.

We are looking for enthusiastic and intelligent journalists with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a passion for journalism. Strong reporting and writing skills are required, as well as the ability to work quickly and accurately.

The Radio Room is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by post-secondary students working eight-hour shifts. Several students are hired in late summer to work part-time during the school year; a second group of students is hired to work through the summer months.

Qualifications
  • Enthusiastic and talented journalists with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Strong reporting and writing skills
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Fluency in a language other than English is an asset
