The Toronto Star is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our Radio Room internship program. As a Radio Room intern, you will have the opportunity to work with our experienced team of journalists in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Our Radio Room interns play a critical role in providing quick tips to the newsroom and sometimes do original reporting for all the Star's platforms. They must be able to persuade officials to talk and be prepared to interview victims and family members touched by crime or accidents.

The work environment is often hectic, so successful candidates must be calm, well-organized and able to juggle several tasks at once. Experience in a daily news environment is a strong asset.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor social media and other sources for breaking news
  • Provide quick tips to the newsroom
  • Conduct original reporting for all the Star's platforms
  • Interview victims and family members touched by crime or accidents
Requirements
  • Enthusiastic, talented, curious and intelligent journalists with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a passion for journalism
  • Strong reporting and writing skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
