Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Operations Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying or verifying required maintenance work, interpreting contracts, scheduling and coordinating in-house or sub-contractor work, and ensuring that all aspects of the contract are coordinated and completed in a timely, efficient, effective, and profitable manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Perform condition assessments of pavements, signs, guardrails, tunnels, bridges, vegetation, and other contract infrastructure and assets, scheduling and coordinating work to be performed
* Work with the Operations Manager/Capital Works Manager to determine the best approach for bringing assets into contract compliance, considering cost, timelines, and efficiency, planning and coordinating all work items
* Inspect ongoing and completed work to ensure compliance with contract requirements
* Supervise maintenance crews effectively, selecting, developing, and performing management tasks, facilitating new hire training and ongoing safety and work standard training
* Respond to incident emergencies, coordinate the work of on-site responders, report accidents/injuries, and manage highway project assets and materials
* Identify opportunities for changes and improvements in work methods, processes, efficiency, and cost reduction
* Create and manage successful completion of all work orders, reviewing claims for damages on the highway system for validity, arranging for data collection, and detailing directly with ministry staff, contractors, external agencies, and the general public to respond to complaints and issues

Requirements:

- High school diploma
- Minimum five years' work experience in construction and/or road maintenance industry, with previous supervisory experience
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Work Environment:

The incumbent will split working time between office and field work. In the office environment, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, and have vision abilities including close and distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. In the field environment, the employee is routinely exposed to outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, fume or airborne particles, and moderate to high noise levels.
