Vision Care Specialist

Established on Vancouver Island, our network of practices is seeking a Full-Time Optometrist to work four or five days per week in a permanent position at our dynamic clinics in Nanaimo, Parksville and Ladysmith. Our long-established primary care practice offers the full scope of optometric services.
FYidoctors places great importance on eye care, and as an Optometrist you will play a key role in providing comprehensive services to diagnose, manage and treat conditions related to eyes and vision. This role encompasses a wide range of clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic services aimed at maintaining optimal eye health and visual function for our patients.
We utilize advanced diagnostic tools for eye and vision assessment, including visual acuity tests, tonometry, retinoscopy, and imaging techniques. You will conduct thorough eye exams to assess ocular health and visual function, prescribe medications, vision therapies, corrective lenses, or refer patients to specialists when necessary.
Vision Correction:
- Manage follow-up adjustments and patient consultations regarding vision correction options.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries.
- Provide immediate care for acute vision problems and ocular emergencies.
Preventive Health Services:
- Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and early detection strategies to prevent vision loss.
- Conduct screenings for vision-related health issues.
To be successful in this role, you must stay informed on the latest research, technology, and practices in optometry and eye care. Accurate and detailed patient records are essential, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaboration with administrative staff is also crucial to ensure a seamless patient experience.
This is a Permanent, Full-Time position, working daytime, evening, and weekends (between 35 and 40 hours per week). Compensation will correspond to 21% of the gross revenue generated by the candidate at each work location.
The ideal candidate holds a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from a School of Optometry recognized by the College of Optometrists of British Columbia. A valid license to practice optometry in Canada, or eligibility to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe, is also required.
