Aquatic Educator Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Aquatic Educator to join our team at the Toronto District School Board. As an Aquatic Educator, you will be responsible for instructing students in aquatic programs, including individual assessment and supervision of health and physical education aquatic classes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lifeguarding during instructional programs in pools
- Developing the aquatics program for Elementary age students or assisting the teacher with the development of the program for Secondary age students
- Performing maintenance and safety checks of the pool area
- Performing administrative duties, including reporting and assessment of Elementary students
- Adapting and modifying programs as needed and setting realistic goals for students with special needs
- Assisting students in and out of water and assisting with dressing and undressing students in Special Education programs
Requirements:
- Secondary school diploma plus required Aquatic Certification
- Minimum three months related experience instructing Secondary or Elementary school aged children or minimum one year of related experience instructing children with special needs
Compensation:
Hourly rates of pay: Supply Elementary Instructor/Lifeguard: $20.02, Supply Secondary Instructor/Lifeguard: $19.01, Supply Aquatic Instructor – Developmental Disability Program: $21.30. 3.4% statutory holiday pay and 4% vacation pay are added to these rates. Temporary Elementary Instructor/Lifeguard: $27.69 after completing 30 days, Temporary Secondary Instructor/Lifeguard: $26.34 after completing 30 days, Aquatic Instructor – Developmental Disability Program: $29.40 after completing 30 days. 3.8% statutory holiday pay and 4% vacation pay are added to these rates.
Schedule:
Up to 7 hours per day between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.
