Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the highest level of safety and security in aquatic environments, adhering to YMCA and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for members, staff, and volunteers, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure the proper set-up and dismantling of aquatic equipment, maintaining its safety and integrity.
  • Conduct regular safety checks on lifesaving equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
  • Participate in cleaning duties related to the pool and equipment, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Maintain up-to-date certifications and qualifications as required by the YMCA and regulatory standards.
  • Engage in scheduled programs, meetings, and special events, promoting a positive and inclusive experience for all.
  • Support program members in accessing additional programs and services offered by the YMCA, fostering a sense of community and belonging.

You Bring:

  • Current certifications in National Lifeguard (NL), Standard First Aid & CPR level C, and YMCA or Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification.
  • Previous experience in lifeguarding and swim instruction, with a focus on providing exceptional service and promoting a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, with a focus on promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned hours of work, including weekday afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Lifeguard Qualifications:

  • Current certifications in National Lifeguard (NL) Award and Standard First Aid & CPR level C.
  • Previous experience in lifeguarding, with a focus on providing exceptional service and promoting a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
