About the Role:

Giant Tiger is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Grocery Associate to join our team in Fredericton (Smythe). As a key member of our store team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and ensuring a seamless shopping experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Operate electronic cash registers, mainline, and self-checkouts, accurately processing customer transactions and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Replenish merchandise around the checkout area, ensuring a well-stocked and visually appealing store environment.
  • Follow up on hot selling items, completing markdowns and SKU changes as needed, to maintain a competitive pricing strategy.
  • Maintain planograms, labels, tickets, and signing standards, ensuring a cohesive and engaging store display.
  • Perform cycle counts, as required, to maintain inventory accuracy and prevent stock discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, including those related to tobacco and lottery sales, to maintain a safe and responsible shopping environment.
  • Follow health and safety policies and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Ensure the checkout work area is kept clean and organized, maintaining a high level of store appearance and cleanliness.
  • Follow loss prevention best practices, identifying and reporting any potential security risks or incidents.

Requirements:

  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and communication.
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of adaptability and flexibility.
  • Attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and precision in all aspects of the job.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and management.

Working Conditions:

The physical demands of this role include standing and/or walking, bending, twisting, and squatting, with the ability to lift and/or move up to 18 kg (40 lbs.). The role also requires performing tasks involving firm grasping, repetitive tasks requiring a range of hand motions, and reaching above shoulder height and below waist level.

As a keyholder, you will be responsible for opening and closing the store on an ad hoc basis, ensuring the store is well-stocked and ready for customers, and maintaining a high level of store appearance and cleanliness.
