We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Officer to join our team at Océan. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet of tugs, dredges, and other ships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a mechanical officer on various vessels, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of engines and equipment.
- Maintain and repair main engines, auxiliary equipment, and other mechanical systems.
- Operate and maintain electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and refueling equipment.
- Participate in major mechanical repairs, including dry dock operations.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the Services et maintenance Océan (SMO) team to maintain daily tasks and ensure seamless operations.
- Develop and implement effective maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and optimize fleet performance.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments and best practices.
Requirements:
- Marine Engineer 2nd Class (Motor) certificate.
- Minimum of three to five years of experience at sea as an engineer.
- Positive leadership skills, with a strong focus on teamwork and communication.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Marine Medical Certificate.
- Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (asset).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Fluency in English and French, with intermediate-level proficiency.
