Job Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst (FA III) supports complex transactions within the full accounting cycle and is involved in full accounting cycle for client contracts or business units. This role typically handles multiple portfolios and complex transactions.

Responsibilities

  1. Review project revenue/gross margins & unbilled backlog analysis with finance/operational leaders for month end review.
  2. Conduct project financial close out and reconciliation.
  3. Record journal entries, maintain and reconcile general ledger to job cost and other sub ledgers.
  4. Answer internal and external financial inquiries related to specific client accounts.
  5. Perform timely month end close, ensuring recording of all pertinent transactions including project/labour/various monthly accruals.
  6. Ensure/investigate Accounts Receivable collection and explanation for overdue balances.
  7. Prepare monthly reports for specific client accounts.

Financial Planning Support

  1. Conduct detailed profitability analysis of variances between planned, forecasted, and actual figures.
  2. Assist in conducting accurate and complete forecasting of revenue and margins by project.

Requirements

  1. 3-6 years of progressive experience in public accounting or industry roles.
  2. University graduation or professional certification (e.g., CGA, CMA, CPA).
  3. Ability to communicate basic accounting principles to support procedures and explain financial results within the team and to internal customers.
  4. Ability to complete and resolve assigned complex account reconciliation seeing the highest transaction volume or dealing with multiple portfolios/business units.
  5. Ability to reconcile and resolve discrepancies between general ledger and sub ledger.
  6. Ability to identify and provide recommendations for issues and process improvement opportunities at account and business unit level following GAAP procedures.
  7. In-depth understanding of audit requirements within scope of responsibility.
  8. Advanced level knowledge of current accounting systems and MS Office suite of software.
  9. Understanding of more complex accounting issues like revenue recognition (% completion/project accounting).
  10. Excellent analytical abilities, including advanced Excel skills to assist with financial modeling (pivot tables, vlookup, etc.).
  11. Strong process improvement and/or implementation experience.

Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year
