Job Summary

Aecon is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic to join our team in Medicine Hat, Alberta. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our heavy-duty on-highway trucks and construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety, environmental, and national safety code policies and regulations.
  • Read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer repair manuals to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Operate hoists and lift devices to position machinery parts safely.
  • Inspect and examine vehicles and equipment to identify potential issues.
  • Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble, and maintain vehicles and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubles.
  • Perform CVIP inspections as required.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to less experienced maintenance personnel.
  • Initiate positive changes to policies and procedures as needed.
  • Work with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative, diligence, and reliability.
  • Travel to maintain and repair on-highway trucks and construction equipment as required.
  • Work on weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a certified Heavy Duty On-Highway Truck Mechanic.
  • Journeyman Certificate (Red Seal) Heavy Equipment Technician.
  • CVIP certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Dual tickets considered an asset.
  • Excellent mechanical knowledge.
  • Physical fitness, with heavy lifting required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Compliance with the company's drug and alcohol program, including testing requirements.
  • Fewer than 6 demerit points on driver's abstract.
