Heavy Equipment Technician

Position Overview
Aecon is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Reporting to the Shop Foreman, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of earthmoving and paving construction equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure strict adherence to Workplace Safety, Environmental, and National Safety Code Policies and Regulations.
- Utilize diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer repair manuals to execute work procedures effectively.
- Safely operate hoists and lift devices to position machinery parts.
- Conduct thorough inspections and examinations of vehicles and equipment.
- Perform a wide range of tasks including lubrication, servicing, diagnosis, repair, assembly, and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Accurately diagnose and repair issues, utilizing computer connections/diagnosis with machines to identify fault codes.
- Provide guidance and instruction to less experienced or apprentice maintenance personnel.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic problems.
- Execute repairs according to manufacturer specifications.
- Proactively suggest improvements to policies and procedures as needed.
- Demonstrate initiative, diligence, and reliability.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must comply with the company's drug & alcohol program, including testing requirements.
- Fewer than 6 demerit points on your driver's abstract.
- Comprehensive mechanical knowledge.
- Physically fit with the ability to perform heavy lifting.
- Journeyman Certificate (Red Seal) Heavy Equipment Technician.
- Dual tickets will be considered an asset.
- CVIP certification or willingness to obtain it.
