Job Title: Assistant Professor in Ancient and/or Asian Philosophy

We are seeking a highly qualified candidate to join our faculty as an Assistant Professor in Ancient and/or Asian Philosophy. The successful candidate will be a scholar with a strong research background and teaching experience in the field.

Job Summary:

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Ancient and/or Asian philosophy. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain and develop a research program in Ancient and/or Asian Philosophy, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and participate in administrative activities of the department.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining and developing a research program in Ancient and/or Asian Philosophy, resulting in scholarly publication and research grants.
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Ancient and/or Asian Philosophy in both French and English.
  • Recruiting and training graduate students.
  • Working collaboratively in research and university service.
  • Participating in administrative activities of the department and service to the broader university community.
Requirements:

The successful candidate will be a scholar in Ancient and/or Asian Philosophy with a Ph.D. by July 1, 2024, and a demonstrated track record of scholarly excellence in the field. The candidate must also have evidence to support the establishment of an innovative research program, including a record of refereed publications and scholarly conferences.
