Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in Ancient and/or Asian Philosophy at the University of Ottawa.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct active research and knowledge mobilization in Ancient and/or Asian Philosophy;
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in both French and English;
  • Recruit and supervise graduate students;
  • Contribute to service to the community and the university;
  • Maintain and develop a research program resulting in scholarly publication and research grants;
  • Collaborate with colleagues in research and university service;
  • Participate in administrative activities of the department and service to the broader university community.
Requirements
  • A doctorate (Ph.D.) in a relevant discipline;
  • A demonstrated track record of scholarly excellence in Ancient and/or Asian Philosophy;
  • Evidence to support the establishment of an innovative research program;
  • A demonstrated ability to attract external funding;
  • Evidence of teaching experience or training at the university level;
  • A commitment to teaching and graduate training in our Department's programs;
  • A commitment to principles related to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of research and teaching.
