About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team at Roberta Place Retirement. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods, ensuring high-quality and presentation standards.
  • Customer Service: Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, taking into account their dietary needs and preferences.
  • Kitchen Management: Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and organization, and maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Staff Training and Supervision: Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food, and supervise kitchen staff and helpers to ensure efficient and safe food preparation and service.
  • Supply Management: Order supplies and equipment as needed, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen and work areas.
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate and a Safe Food Handling certificate.
  • Work Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a retirement home setting.
  • Language: Fluency in English is required.
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced environment with overtime required, physically demanding, and repetitive tasks.
