About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Nurse Specialist to join our team in the Cardiac OR and Trauma Care department at Alberta Health Services.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide expert nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac surgeries and trauma interventions. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care, from pre-operative preparation to post-operative recovery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality patient care, adhering to established standards and protocols.
  • Participate in pre-operative planning, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information for surgical teams.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, prioritizing patient safety and comfort.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or equivalent.
  • Current registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Completion of a RNFA program, including clinical hours.
  • Experience in cardiac open-heart surgery and trauma care is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $35.87 and $43.82 per hour, depending on experience.
