Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our team at McMaster Children's Hospital. As a key member of our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you will provide respiratory care to critically ill newborns and their families. This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for a dedicated RRT who shares our commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

About the Role

  • Provide respiratory care to neonates in our Level III NICU, including ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and airway clearance.
  • Work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to deliver family-centered care that prioritizes the emotional, mental, and physical well-being of our patients.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest standards of care in our unit.
  • Contribute to education and professional development programs to enhance the skills of our staff and students.
  • Rotate shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the 24/7 needs of our patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) exam.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ventilator requirements for the micro-premature population.
  • Demonstrate the philosophy of Family Centered Care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of developmental care.
  • Willingness to precept respiratory therapy clinical students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a level 3 NICU within the last 2 years.
  • Experience attending high-risk deliveries within the last 2 years.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $38.35 - $53.28 per hour, commensurate with experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, we also offer opportunities for professional growth and development.
