Executive Sous Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at the Valhalla Hotel & Conference Centre. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for supporting the Executive Chef and representing them in their absence. Your leadership skills and ability to train new staff members will be essential in driving our food and beverage operation to the next level.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision.
- Develop and implement culinary concepts and menus that align with the hotel's vision and brand standards.
- Lead by example, demonstrating exceptional culinary skills, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement training programs for new staff members, ensuring they meet the hotel's high standards.
- Monitor and control food costs, ensuring efficient production and minimizing waste.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Participate in menu planning, specials, and banquets, working closely with the Executive Chef to ensure seamless execution.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring the highest quality ingredients and products.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.
- 3+ years of experience in a senior culinary role, preferably in a hotel or resort environment.
- Proven track record of leadership, training, and mentoring staff.
- Exceptional culinary skills, with a focus on creativity, presentation, and flavor.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on attention to detail and quality control.
- Current Food Safe Certification and a valid Canadian work permit.
