Budget Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Budget Analyst to join our team at BC Transit. As a key member of our Financial Planning and Analysis department, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of our annual departmental budgets.
As a Budget Analyst, you will be responsible for performing a variety of functions in support of financial and statistical reports related to annual departmental budgets. This will include preparing budget, actual and forecast data, budget curving and analysis for budget and forecast variances. You will also compile and maintain data using financial software and liaise with various internal departments and external contacts to provide information for the development of multiple budgets and reports.

- Provide analytical support to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis and to Regional Financial Managers.
- Prepare monthly JVs and accruals and ensure these reflect the current AOA's and amendments.
- Prepare and update detailed budget forms and gather relevant information for developing budget models.
- Education in business administration, economics or finance, including courses in accounting, finance, economics, statistics and financial mathematics, along with advanced courses in word-processing, spreadsheet and database software.
- Previous accounting or financial planning experience involving analysis of complex financial information, manipulation of budget and forecast variables, report writing.
- Advanced proficiency in the use of spreadsheets and word-processing software, preferably Excel and MS Word including the ability to create and maintain excel macros using Visual Basic Application.
