About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Budget Analyst to join our team at BC Transit. As a key member of our Financial Planning and Analysis department, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of our annual departmental budgets.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in financial planning and analysis, with experience in preparing and analyzing complex financial data, including budget and forecast variances. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with various internal departments and external contacts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyze financial data, including budget and forecast variances
  • Compile and maintain data using financial software
  • Liaise with internal departments and external contacts to provide information for budget development and reporting
  • Provide analytical support to the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis and Regional Financial Managers
  • Prepare monthly JVs and accruals, ensuring they reflect current AOA's and amendments
Requirements
  • Education in business administration, economics, or finance, including courses in accounting, finance, economics, statistics, and financial mathematics
  • Previous accounting or financial planning experience, including analysis of complex financial information and report writing
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of spreadsheets and word-processing software, preferably Excel and MS Word
