Job Summary

The Assistant Track Foreman plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects by managing and directing a crew of workers to meet or exceed corporate and project goals for safety, quality, profitability, and schedule.

This unionized position offers a competitive hourly rate of $37.95, along with benefits, pension, vacation, and opportunities for advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Embody a strong safety culture and adhere to industry and company policies and procedures.
  • Repair and replace turnout components, track components, and other rail infrastructure as needed.
  • Monitor track conditions, track beds, and right-of-way to detect, report, and repair problems or defects.
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment responsibly, ensuring daily maintenance and inspections are completed.
  • Perform special duties assigned by the Track Maintenance Foreman and maintain proper documentation.
  • Support the Track Maintenance Foreman in ensuring timely completion of work, including labor, tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Maintain a dedication to safety at all times, modeling, educating, and enforcing safe work practices and company policies.
  • Ensure proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel.
  • Train and motivate workers to achieve project goals.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of track construction and maintenance.
  • Ability to read and understand project-specific documents, including schedules, standard railway plans, and specifications.
  • Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.
  • Ability to supervise the work of others and clearly communicate instructions to the crew.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.
  • Strong client relations skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands
  • Works outdoors at construction sites.
  • Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, lifts, bends, and moves objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposed to all weather conditions, including very hot and very cold weather.
  • Exposed to loud noise.
  • Exposed to live track/trains and high voltage.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
