Job Title: School Psychologist

Thank you for your interest in a career as a School Psychologist with the York Region District School Board. This application is for a School Psychologist (Full-time, Contract and Temporary Positions Available) for the 2024/2025 school year.

Please Note: Travel from site to site will be required.

The successful candidates for these positions will have experience delivering psychological services in an educational setting with children and youth and will be able to provide psychological assessment, consultation, and programming services.

The position will focus mainly on providing psychological consultation and programming support, as well as building the capacity of other Board staff in the areas of developmental disorders, behavioral and mental health issues.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responding to referrals from school staff pertaining to students encountering challenges in learning or behavioral domains.
  • Conducting Psychological Assessments, interpreting results and writing comprehensive reports.
  • Consulting with teachers and other school staff, as well as student and parents.
  • Liaising with community agencies.
  • Brief counseling of students and parents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, or documentation of eligibility for registration is required.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents, preferably in a school setting.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • A valid driver's license and access to own transportation are also a necessity for the position.
