Job Summary

The Director of Infrastructure and Sustainability will lead the planning, design, and construction of university major and minor capital projects, as well as manage the multi-year, multi-million-dollar capital deferred renewal program. This position will provide strategic and operational leadership for facilities planning, design, engineering, renewal, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-disciplined team of professionals in facilities planning, design, engineering, renewal, and sustainability
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the planning, design, and construction of university major and minor capital projects
  • Manage the multi-year, multi-million-dollar capital deferred renewal program
  • Champion sustainability and climate action and strategic planning
  • Guide the development and implementation of programs and policies for sustainability, space planning, and infrastructure requirements of the university
  • Collaborate with consultants and contractors to identify funding opportunities and develop proposals, budgets, and presentations on the sustainable landscape and infrastructure planning and development

Requirements

  • Strategic leader with superb communication and negotiating skills
  • Proven track record of success in leading major capital projects, preferably in large complex organizations
  • Education and professional certification in engineering or architecture, or extensive experience in a comparable role
  • Significant project management skills, sound knowledge of construction and the construction industry, experience with public tendering and the public procurement act
  • Experience managing a team of professionals, eligibility for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Knowledge of and experience working with building fire and accessibility codes
