About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Dietitian to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a member of our Primary Health Care team, you will provide expert knowledge and skills in diabetes management and chronic disease prevention.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to provide a range of services, including health promotion, illness prevention, screening, treatment, and monitoring of people living with diabetes. You will also be required to support people living with other chronic health problems, community development, and advocacy.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nutrition and dietetics, with a focus on diabetes management and chronic disease prevention. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

About You
  • Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition or related field
  • Dietetic internship or equivalent experience
  • Current membership in the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association
  • Annual continuing education to maintain Nova Scotia license
  • Two years clinical experience preferred
  • One year of diabetes-related experience required
  • Membership in Dietitians of Canada preferred
  • CPR/BLS certification required
  • Designation as a Certified Diabetes Educator preferred
  • Experience with group education
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with principles of Motivational Interviewing
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient care
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office, email, and internet
  • Ability to work well independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective research and analytical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred
Hours
  • Long assignment full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Tentative start date of August 26, - 1 year term
  • Shifts include days, and may include evenings and weekends
Compensation and Incentives

$43.42 Hourly
