About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Dietitian to join our team in a clinical nutrition role. As a key member of our Nutrition and Food Services department, you will be responsible for providing expert nutrition advice and care to patients, families, and communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, families, and communities.
  • Advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors.
  • Participate in the Dietetic Practicum and Internship program, including preceptoring and mentoring Dietetic Students.
  • Employ an evidence-informed approach to practice.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team providers to share nutrition expertise and ensure quality and continuity of care.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition at a recognized University.
  • Dietetic Internship Program required.
  • Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists required.
  • Minimum one (1) year working experience as a dietitian preferred.
  • Inpatient clinical nutrition experience is an asset.
  • Competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  • Experience counselling patients.
  • Current WHMIS an asset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations.
  • Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the interprofessional healthcare team.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Long Assignment, Part-time / 45 Hours Bi-weekly.
  • September 2024 to June 2025, approximately 9 months.
  • Hours may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation and Benefits:

$43.42 Hourly.
