Mental Health Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Professional to join our team at The Alex. As a key member of our Pathways to Housing program, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with severe mental health and addiction issues to achieve stability and wellness.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will provide culturally sensitive services, adhere to evidence-based practices, and work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to support program participants in achieving their goals. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services and a passion for working with vulnerable populations.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide assertive outreach and support to individuals with severe mental health and addiction issues
- Develop and implement participant-centered service plans and safety plans
- Connect participants to community services and assist with referrals
- Teach and support daily living skills, such as cooking and budgeting
- Identify and mitigate eviction risks, assist with unit inspections
- Provide transportation support and help with daily living activities
- Advocate for participants' rights and assist with rent and arrears
- Support medication management and demonstrate strong crisis support skills
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Addictions Counselling, Community Rehabilitation, or related field
- Eligible for Alberta professional registration (e.g., Alberta College of Social Workers)
- Minimum two years' experience in a social service setting
- Experience working with vulnerable populations with mental health and substance use issues
- Knowledge of local resources and Housing First, Harm Reduction models
This position requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be required to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services.
