Job Title: Mental Health Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Professional to join our team at The Alex. As a key member of our Pathways to Housing program, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with severe mental health and addiction issues to achieve stability and wellness.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide culturally sensitive services, adhere to evidence-based practices, and work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to support program participants in achieving their goals. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services and a passion for working with vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide assertive outreach and support to individuals with severe mental health and addiction issues
  • Develop and implement participant-centered service plans and safety plans
  • Connect participants to community services and assist with referrals
  • Teach and support daily living skills, such as cooking and budgeting
  • Identify and mitigate eviction risks, assist with unit inspections
  • Provide transportation support and help with daily living activities
  • Advocate for participants' rights and assist with rent and arrears
  • Support medication management and demonstrate strong crisis support skills
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Addictions Counselling, Community Rehabilitation, or related field
  • Eligible for Alberta professional registration (e.g., Alberta College of Social Workers)
  • Minimum two years' experience in a social service setting
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations with mental health and substance use issues
  • Knowledge of local resources and Housing First, Harm Reduction models
