Bus Parts Data Research Specialist

**Job Title:** Bus Parts Data Research Specialist
**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled Bus Parts Data Research Specialist to join our team at New Flyer. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in interpreting manufacturing Bills of Material (BOMs) and engineering drawings into service parts lists. The successful candidate will have a mechanical aptitude and excellent investigative and communication skills to work effectively in an engineering environment.
**Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze BOMs, engineering drawings, and vendor information to create manual section research packages.
- Organize research information packages in order of priority and project strategy to ensure timely completion and handover to the illustration group.
- Complete Team Center research work tasks as assigned by Technical Editors and follow established work procedures.
- Contact engineering staff or Part Suppliers to clarify and verify data accuracy, source new data, and maintain good working relationships.
- Maintain records of part supplier data requests, perform follow-up actions, and ensure data is correct and obtained when required.
- Perform all research duties according to established procedures and guidelines, proactively communicate with Technical Editors, and perform editing tasks as required.
- Complete tasks within specified time schedule deadlines, perform quality control checks, and hand over work.
- Assign new New Flyer part numbers to new OEM supplier parts.
- Properly maintain and archive source documentation in electronic and hard copy formats.
- Collect and communicate data inaccuracies to Technical Editors for prompt recording into the update system.
**Requirements:
- Certification/diploma from a recognized technical school as a Mechanical Technologist or equivalent workplace experience.
- 3-5 years experience in interpreting Manufacturing BOMs and engineering drawings into service parts lists.
- Heavy equipment/automotive parts manufacturing background.
- Experience in sourcing vendor data.
- Experience with Engineering Data Management systems such as TeamCenter.
- Capable of working under tight deadlines.
- Min. 2 years experience working in the technical publishing industry as a data research technician.
- Excellent investigative and communication skills in an engineering environment.
- Effective customer service and investigative skills.
- Strong working knowledge in MS Office applications, Windows OS, and network. Oracle database ERP system.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
**Estimated Salary:** $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, depending on experience and location.
