Senior Controls / Automation Division Position

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Control Systems Expert to lead the development of our control systems in the Controls / Automation Division. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial control systems, hands-on experience with various PLCs and HMIs, and excellent communication and leadership skills.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Leverage technical expertise to develop and implement comprehensive control system strategies.
  • Total procurement of customer user requirement specifications for seamless execution.
  • Evaluate control strategies and suitability to common industrial processes, ensuring optimal efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality I&C documentation, including Control Narrative, RATS List, Cause and Effect Diagram, Serial Interface Lists.
  • Design and implement multiple-loop control systems, integrating seamlessly with existing control systems.
  • Program and calibrate PLCs, ensuring precision and accuracy.
  • Lead initiatives to improve process and systems optimization, driving business growth and success.
  • Develop intuitive HMI display graphics and configurations, enhancing user experience.
  • Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard control systems.
  • Create and manage SCADA / RTU applications, including historian / trending and reporting capabilities.
  • Configure and troubleshoot industrial network components, ensuring efficient communication.
  • Support internal Factory Acceptance Testing before equipment shipment to site.
  • Contribute to field commissioning and operations of complete water and wastewater systems.
  • Travel occasionally (less than 25%) to support on-site activities.
  • Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Deliver exceptional service to clients and on-site partners, fostering long-term relationships.
  • Analyze root causes of control system failures, developing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide remote technical support to clients and site operators.
Requirements:
  • At least 10 years of experience in industrial control systems, preferably in water/wastewater treatment plants and various industrial process packages.
  • Post-secondary education in Automation & Instrumentation or related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in PLC programming and field service support for multiple platforms.
  • Experience with Rockwell ControlLogix and CompactLogix, and knowledge of HMIs like FactoryTalk View Studio.
  • Familiarity with SCADA, VFDs, industrial communications networks, and other relevant technologies.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and pride in delivering high-quality results.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, leading small project teams when necessary.
Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including extended health group benefits, Group RRSP / 401K program, and professional development opportunities.
