The Position

We're seeking a skilled Controls Software Engineering Manager for our Digital Solutions business unit's Control Systems Department. As a leader in this role, you'll oversee a team of engineers to design and deliver software and hardware control systems for applications across our renewable energy fleet. You'll collaborate with various areas of the business to understand requirements and develop and deploy production-level software code on renewable energy projects.

This position will leverage your experience to make technical decisions about control systems and the approach the team takes. You'll work cross-functionally and collaboratively across multiple internal functions to create new control system products for use across our technologies and markets.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the technical design and development of edge-based controller products for wind, solar, and energy storage systems.
  2. Cultivate a diverse and talented team of engineers and software developers to innovate ideas and deliver solutions that meet or exceed our customers' expectations.
  3. Develop balanced software development and testing processes to produce high-quality results on schedule.
  4. Participate in software development tasks as necessary.
  5. Contribute to department strategic planning.
  6. Participate in relevant due diligence evaluations of business partners, engineering designs, and business development activities as required.
  7. Identify and help develop intellectual property opportunities.
  8. Apply engineering knowledge and experience with renewable energy to control system design.
  9. Design and document contractual testing procedures for control systems.
  10. Ensure all product and project safety and security requirements are met.
  11. Stay current with professional and industrial best practices.

A bachelor's degree in engineering is required, along with at least five years of experience leading a software engineering team, ten years of experience developing software and deploying it into a production environment, and five years of experience with control systems deployed to PLCs, PACs, RTACs, and/or embedded systems. Proficiency in C# and Python is also necessary, as is the ability to communicate complex technical ideas effectively to a diverse international audience.
