Job Summary

Domtar is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the payroll operations of our company, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll for all employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage payroll production for Canadian and US employees, ensuring compliance with fiscal regulations and company policies.
  • Enter data for Family Support and garnishment, and reconcile payroll records to ensure accuracy.
  • Balance and prepare payments for various suppliers, and produce various monthly reports.
  • Respond to requests from internal and external clients, and participate in year-end activities for Canadian and US payroll.
  • Participate in the integration, testing, and implementation of payroll system enhancements, interfaces, and tax updates.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
Requirements
  • College diploma in administration or accounting.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a similar position.
  • Experience with payroll for employees living in another province.
  • Experience with self-processing a volume of 400 employees or more.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office Software, particularly with Excel.
  • Experience with unionized payroll, T4/R1 summary production, DAS remittances, third-party remittances, and American payroll are assets.
  • Member of the Canadian Payroll Association or the American Payroll Association is an asset.
  • Experience with a major payroll software application and knowledge of the SAP system are strong assets.
