Palliative Care Support Worker Job Description

About the Role

Spectrum Health Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Palliative Care Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialized care to patients with palliative needs, enhancing their quality of life, comfort, dignity, and security.

Key Responsibilities

Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse.
Provide companionship and comfort, creating a calm and respectful environment tailored to the client's needs, preferences, and goals of care.
Perform light housekeeping duties, such as washing dishes, taking out the garbage, and laundry.
Travel within assigned regions to visit patients' residences or facilities.

Requirements

Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program.
Experience providing services in a community health care setting.
Must have experience working with palliative care patients.
Current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
Current Police check suitable for working with the vulnerable sector.
Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal.
