We are seeking a highly skilled ASL-English Interpreter to join our team at the Ontario Ministry of Education. As an ASL-English Interpreter, you will play a critical role in providing interpreting services for Deaf students and staff in various settings.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide interpreting services for Deaf students and staff in educational and resource services programs.
- Interpret for administrative and professional staff in sensitive and demanding situations.
- Provide interpreting services for training sessions and workshops.
- Be available to work on-call hours as required.
- Degree or Diploma in ASL-English Interpreting.
- Fluency in American Sign Language and English.
- Ability to interpret in a wide range of formal, informal, educational, and professional settings.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Professional Code of Ethics of the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI).
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience interpreting in both small and large group settings.
