Director, Equity Trader

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Equity Trader to join our Global Banking and Markets team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Institutional Equity Trading Desk, you will play a critical role in driving business growth and delivering exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Focus: Champion a customer-centric culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Trading and Execution: Solicit business, execute orders, and manage complex situations as they arise, delivering best-practice results and best execution at each turn.
- Team Collaboration: Foster an environment of communication and accountability amongst the trading team, a fundamental necessity for peak performance on a trading desk.
- Business Development: Leverage existing customer relationships to expand business opportunities with other areas of GBM and beyond within the Bank.
- Risk Management: Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions, and execute all decisions with those factors in mind.
- Operational Excellence: Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
- High-Performance Environment: Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
- Client Relationship Building: Build and grow relationships with institutional clients to drive revenue growth in the portfolio trading business through client visits, marketing, etc.
- Cross-Selling: Deepen client relationships, promote cross-selling of other products such as index research, corporate trading, etc.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with MS Excel, VBA, and Bloomberg. Python, SQL, and Matlab experience is an asset.
- Experience and Qualifications: 10+ years of work experience in the financial industry, specifically capital markets and trading. Coverage of European and US accounts is an asset.
- Licensing: The candidate must be a registrant in good standing currently or be capable of being registered (promptly) to trade on all the Exchanges in Canada for both Canadian and US customers.
Work Arrangement
This position is currently an on-site role, with the expectation that you will work at least 4 days a week in the office.
