Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  6. Operational Excellence: Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  7. High-Performance Environment: Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
  8. Client Relationship Building: Build and grow relationships with institutional clients to drive revenue growth in the portfolio trading business through client visits, marketing, etc.
  9. Cross-Selling: Deepen client relationships, promote cross-sell of other products such as index research, corporate trading, etc.
  10. Technical Skills: Proficient with MS Excel, VBA, and Bloomberg. Python, SQL, and Matlab experience is an asset.
  11. Problem-Solving: Able to multitask in a high-pressure environment with superior attention to detail. Strategic and innovative thinker with strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand the financial impact of choices.
Requirements
  1. Professional Designation: Relevant professional designation and/or working towards CFA.
  2. Work Experience: 10+ years of work experience in the financial industry, specifically capital markets and trading.
  3. Coverage: Coverage of European and US accounts is an asset.
Licensing and Certifications

The candidate must be a registrant in good standing currently or be capable of being registered (promptly) to trade on all the Exchanges in Canada for both Canadian and US customers.

The necessary proficiencies would include:

  1. In Canada: CSC, CPH, and TTC (Traders Training Course unless previously registered as a trader).
  2. In the US: Series 37 and Series 63.
Work Arrangement

This position is currently an on-site role, with the expectation that you will work at least 4 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
