We are seeking a highly skilled Equity Trader to join our Global Banking and Markets team. As a key member of our Institutional Equity Trading Desk, you will be responsible for contributing to the overall success of the team by executing specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives in support of our business strategies and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
* Solicit business, execute orders, and manage complex situations as they arise, delivering best-practice results and best execution at each turn.
* Foster an environment of communication and accountability amongst the trading team, a fundamental necessity for peak performance on a trading desk.
* Leverage existing customer relationships to expand business opportunities with other areas of GBM and beyond within the Bank.
* Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions, and execute all decisions with those factors in mind.
* Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
* Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
* Build/grow relationships with institutional clients to drive revenue growth in the portfolio trading business through client visits, marketing, etc.
* Deepen client relationships, promote cross-sell of other products such as index research, corporate trading, etc.
* Proficient with MS Excel, VBA, and Bloomberg. Python, SQL, and Matlab experience an asset.
Licensing:
The candidate must be a registrant in good standing currently or be capable of being registered (promptly) to trade on all the Exchanges in Canada for both Canadian and US customers.
Work Arrangement:
This position is currently an on-site role, with the expectation that you will work at least 4 days a week in the office.
